PFLAG Rocky Mount will host a reception Friday, May 21, 8 p.m., to precede the special late night performance by Peter Neofotis, 9:30 p.m.($10), in the Lauren Kennedy and Alan Campbell Theatre, Barton College, Wilson, NC. Neofotis will present "The Botanist," from his book -- Concord, Virginia -- published in 2009 by St. Martin's Press. "The Botanist," drawn from the writer's own experience of growing up gay in the rural South, tells of a young college student who is persecuted for his homosexuality. The story is both heart-wrenching and hilarious. The event is presented in connection with the 2010 season of Theater of the American South. Tickets will be available at the door.
