RALEIGH (Feb. 1, 2011) – On Tuesday, Feb. 1, the Adelante Education Coalition and supporters will join together to hold vigils across North Carolina in defense of access to higher education for all.
The key to creating jobs, stimulating the economy and reducing the state deficit is to invest in educating all people of North Carolina. Exclusion and re-segregation would cost North Carolina dearly now, at a time when it can least afford to do so.

Roe vs Wade public protest

If you are interested in appearing in silent witness to advocate for the continuation of Roe vs Wade, please be on the Pitt County Courthouse steps at 3:15 pm on January 23rd.

As we near the anniversary of Roe Vs Wade, the 1973 law that protects a woman's right to an abortion, there is likely to be a group who seek its repeal attempting to get the attention of the local press.  Last year, at the Pitt County Courthouse steps, the repeal group was not alone!  Four of us stood in (mostly) silent witness to the need for the law protecting a woman's right to decide!  We don't yet know when or if this same group advocating repeal of Roe vs Wade will seek PR this year.  When we know, I hope there are some of you who would be willing to gather to show your support for the continuation of a woman's right to make her own decisions about her own body.
